Cyber Security for Conveyancers

Conveyancers, just like anybody else, need to be cyber security aware. They need to protect sensitive customer information, their brand and reputation. This course will explain common cyber security threats that may impact a conveyancer’s business and provide some tips for becoming cyber security aware and protecting sensitive information.

Cyber Security for Conveyancers

Conveyancers, just like anybody else, need to be cyber securityaware. They need to protect sensitive customer information, their brand and reputation. The AICSA offers ten Practical Skills Training Courses face to face. These courses are particularly recommended for conveyancing clerks. We are pleased to advise that all ten courses will be offered online using Moodle our Learning Management System.

This course provides an introduction to real property and different interests and dealings in land that are recognised in South Australia.

You will learn about estates in land and the different interests in land that can be registered, including a mortgage, lease, encumbrance, easement, caveat and a lien.

This course explains the law of contract and how it is relevant to the conveyancing process. The six essential elements of a contract are explained and how each of those elements are satisfied in a contract for the sale of land.

Practical Skills 4: General Practices and Procedures

A conveyancing business needs to run efficiently, whether large or small. For this reason, general office practices and procedures are important to establish and maintain. This course will examine general office practices that should be established for a conveyancing office.

The importance of creating and maintain office procedure manuals, checklists and Lands Title Office procedures will ensure a conveyancing office runs efficiently and provides an excellent service to its clients.

This course introduces students to the Form 1. This is a statement made pursuant to s. 7 of the Land and Business (Sale and Conveyancing) Act 1994 (SA). When a contract for the sale of land is made this form must be given by the vendor of land to the purchaser at least 10 clear days before settlement. This course examines the contents of the Form 1 and its relationship to the rights of the purchaser to cool off.

‘Risk’ refers to the possibility of a loss occurring that could have an adverse effect on a conveyancing business. This course deals with ‘risk management’ which is about identifying potential risks and implementing behaviours and processes to reduce the possibility of such events occurring.

Risk management is the responsibility of everyone who works in a conveyancing firm. This course will consider the risks associated with the delivery of conveyancing services and what ‘good’ risk management looks like and how mistakes can be avoided.
